Mallorca is home to many things. Beautiful villages, stunning beaches, gorgeous resorts, and arguably, some of the best food in the world. To this day Mallorca is home to some of the meals I think about the most. From tapas to paella, you truly can’t go wrong on this beautiful Balearic island.
Finding Mallorca’s Hidden Cliffside Dining Gem
Located on the south west coast of Mallorca is the picturesque Terrazas Del Bendinat, part of the Hotel Del Bendinat. I will preface that this restaurant is off the beaten path, so it may be best to have a rental car to make the trek, but the trek is oh so worth it.
The restaurant itself is situated on a cliffside with a stunning view of land meeting sea as far as the eye can see. I highly recommend booking your table just before sunset to truly appreciate the beauty the setting provides. They have both indoor and outdoor tables, and while the inside offers large windows to let in plenty of light, the real treat comes from an outdoor table overlooking the ocean.
The meal at Terrazas Del Bendinat is slow paced and exquisite. With time between courses you really get to soak in the peace and beauty surrounding you.

What to Expect at Terrazas Del Bendinat: Fresh Flavors & Slow Dining
As we looked over the menu, we were presented with an excellent fresh bread, olive oil, and olives to nibble on. I’m an olive lover, so this thrilled me, and I can confidently say these olives were some of the best I’ve had.
For starters my mom and I shared a bright and delicious burrata with fresh figs and heirloom tomatoes. When I say fresh, I really mean it; the tomatoes and figs truly tasted like they came straight from the vine to the table. As we ate, we shared a silky and light bottle of Rioja that prefectly complimented the dishes we ordered and the setting perfectly.
As we waited for our main course, a shared rabbit and chicken paella, we enjoyed a surreal view of the sunset. The sun reflecting on the water brilliantly, a glass of good wine in hand, there’s nothing truly like it.

The Paella Everyone Talks About: A Mallorca Must-Try Dish
The paella, a specialty of the Terrazas Del Bendinat, is meant for a minimum of two people, but no matter how much effort we put in, we could not finish the massive portion. It was a first for my mom and me to try rabbit, but it was very tender and went well with the added textures of chicken, vegetables, and rice from the paella. The paella had a deep and rich flavor that developed with each bite and a texture that was silky, almost like a good risotto. You could truly taste the craft and effort that went into the dish and almost immediately it was clear the thought and care that was put into it.
By the end of enjoying our paella we were too full for any desserts. As the sun disappeared and the dark night took over, it did get a bit cold so we ordered a coffee to sip on as we enjoyed some final moments along the dreamy coast. Shortly after our final sips we made our way to the car and drove away from the meals I’ll always remember.
While not the most convenient, if you have the facilities to get to Terrazas Del Bendinat, it is not a place to be missed. Don’t forget to book your table in advance, though, as seating can be quite limited. Bring your appetite as well, because the paella is a must-have, and you’ll want to savor each and every bite until you feel like you’re about to burst.
